Mark DeMontis

Mark DeMontis is an athlete, speaker and strategist with over 15-years’ experience in non-profit, television, community and social services with the Government of Ontario. His focus is simple, making programs and services more accessible for people with disabilities. After losing his NHL dream unexpectedly at 17 from sudden sight loss, Mark founded Canadian Blind Hockey and has inline skated for over 8,000 kilometres to raise money for the cause. 

As Chief Accessibility Officer at The Substance Group, Mark works with organizations to rethink disability as a driver for social and economic impact. He’s become an emerging voice for the Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work, Brands for Canada and the Shine Foundation. 

He is a recipient of the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award and NHL Willie O’Ree Community Hero Award. Currently, Mark is a member of Canada’s National Blind Hockey Team and resides in Toronto.
