Help shape the future for families in communities across Canada
Families Canada is the national association of family resource programs. Our vision is a Canada where all families thrive, and our mission is to be a knowledge broker and information hub for family serving organizations. Through more than 700 member organizations, we impact the lives of over half a million families per year.
Since 1978, Families Canada has helped member organizations meet the evolving and complex needs of families by:
- Piloting, adapting, and scaling evidence-based programming
- Developing and disseminating evidence-informed resources
- Providing professional development opportunities
We partner with private, public, non-profit, and academic organizations to turn knowledge into practice. A multi-sectoral approach is essential for addressing barriers and strengthening families.
Families Canada integrates equity-promoting approaches into our programs and projects, to address systemic barriers and enable all individuals to fully benefit from family support initiatives. We use child rights-based approaches, trauma- and violence-informed approaches, and principles of social inclusion to support Canada’s diverse families.
Families Canada takes a holistic, multidimensional approach to building the strength of Canada’s families. Our initiative areas are interconnected aspects of health and wellbeing that reflect evolving areas of support that family-serving agencies provide to families. We lead programs and develop projects in the areas of health and nutrition, parenting, early childhood development, intergenerational programming, and financial wellness.
