New at Families Canada! Online Learning Now Available for Family Support Practitioners
We're so pleased to announce the new Families Canada Training Portal! Created to provide family support practitioners interested in building on, building up, or simply refreshing their knowledge, the training portal is the perfect opportunity to access exclusive content developed in partnership with experts.
Courses
Focused on providing trusted, science-backed learning opportunities, all courses are bite-size, self-paced, and interactive to ensure a learning experience that is meaningful and fun! Completion certificates are available, and the site includes both free and paid content.
Courses are available in English and French, and new courses will be added regularly. Each course can be opened and completed as many times as you'd like, and all courses are optimized for mobile – allowing you to access the training at any time, from any device!

Building Brains
This course has nine modules, and each module should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. Available in English and French, this course explores questions like:
- How does a baby's brain develop before birth?
- How does the mother's experience affect the development of a baby's brain?
- What role do nutrition and stimulation play in the developing brain?
- How does love build brains?
- And more!

Essential Play
This course has nine modules, and each module should take around 10-15 minutes to complete.
It will look at how play is not just natural and fun for children, but extremely important for their development. It is essential. Like food, water, security, and love, it is something they cannot do without. Available in English and French, this course will:
- develop a working definition of play.
- look at how play is essential for development and ideal for learning.
- explore a few specific ways that play supports development.
- discuss how to support play.

Empowering Women & Communities Through Financial Literacy
This module will introduce family support practitioners to the Each One, Teach One program, provide an overview of the program's benefits for at-risk women, and demonstrate how to reach out and build a sustainable partnership with their local Each One, Teach One representative.
